Stuck in Your Beliefs
In this episode, I discuss how your beliefs can leave you feeling stuck in your business.

Today, we’re gonna talk about three beliefs that are keeping you stuck and broke in your coaching business. I just got back from Palm Desert. And it was amazing and warm and sunny. And I had time to think about some of the things that are holding my clients back. Some of the things that I wanted to make new content on. One of the things that came up for me was, I realized a lot of the people I talked to have these certain beliefs about their business. And, about themselves, that are really delaying them in their growth. We’re going to talk about what those are and how you can start to shift those. What if it Doesn’t Work?
So the first belief that is holding you back is what if this doesn’t work? If you’ve ever thought this before, and you’ve thought, what if I waste effort? What if I do a lot of things and spend a lot of time on it, and then no one buys or I get crickets on that post.
Or people you know, don’t respond when I say something to them. I want to let you know that no matter what time is going to go by. And my guess is you’ve been wasting effort thinking thoughts. Like what if this doesn’t work or procrastinating in your business from trying something because you’re afraid of it doesn’t work, you wasted some time. And so the point I’m trying to make is no matter what your waste, you’re going to waste effort. You get to decide if you want to waste effort on limiting beliefs and not trying things and not you know, learning and the process and being able to put effort into something that matters to you and be disappointed if it doesn’t work which I’d much rather have and face because then you can learn from it and continue to adapt and grow.
Don’t Waste Your Effort with Limiting Beliefs
Or if you want to waste effort not trying it procrastinating. Filling your life with meaningless things like Netflix and you know TV and stuff because you’re just procrastinating on your goals. I would pick the first one meaning wasted effort for trying something I wanted to try any day over wasting
effort, thinking about trying wasting effort, delaying trying and procrastinating things like that, that have no end, lesson or benefit at the end, right? So if you’ve been stuck in that, what if it doesn’t work? Ask yourself what if it does work. How the only way you’re going to know is if you take that shot. And if you play big, and you commit and you try and being in it. Being the kind of person who can commit to something and be okay with disappointment, be okay with it not working and having to learn from it and try it again, in a different way that is going to benefit you in so many areas of your life. And that’s a life skill that your business could teach you.
What if I Get Rejected?
So that’s really recommended. The second thing is what if I get rejected, this is a second belief that people have that hold them back or stop them from doing what they want to do in their business. So what if I get rejected? Or what if people don’t like me? So the reason why I bring this one up is because people are going to think whatever they want about you no matter what so you could be. And a lot of times the clients who I work with who struggle with this particular belief are people pleasers. Meaning they want everybody to like them. They want everybody to be happy. And they don’t ever want to face any conflict.
They don’t ever want to polarize, you know, anybody they want to work with everybody, they stand for nothing, because they just want to be liked. Okay. And the thing that we have to look at with this belief is that no matter what you say, or do, people are going to think whatever they want about you, and that’s their choice, not their right.
What Can You Control?
You cannot gain control over that. And the question is, do you want them to believe or like you for being somebody you’re not. Meaning you’re just showing up trying to people please. You’re not doing the things and saying the things you actually want to say. But you’re just you know, you want to be liked. And you realize that they don’t actually like you for you. They like you for who you’re trying to pretend to be and how you’re trying to people please them or would you rather show up authentically take a stand for something, do something In your business that you’re willing to feel rejected, disliked, judged, embarrassed, look a little stupid sometimes. Right?
Taking that chance and putting yourself out there in a big way. And being okay with people making their own judgments about that, which would you rather choose? And a lot of people still choose the people pleasing because it’s more comfortable. But the truth is, if you want to grow in your business. And if you want to have people resonate with an offer that you’re making. You kind of have to decide, what is it that you stand for? What is your method? What doesn’t work? And what are you willing to call bs on that your clients have been trying, and it hasn’t been working for them and whatever, right.
And you got to have to show up in that way. Your job as a coach is not to be everybody’s friend, and to be liked by everybody, your job as a coach is to hold them accountable to what they say they want, and help them see the blind spots, they don’t see which a lot of times people don’t like to look at their blind spots.
Have Positive Perspectives and Beliefs
They don’t like to be, you know, questioned on some of their perspective. I don’t like that, but I do it. And I have, I’ve had coaches, and I’ve had mentors who call me out. Then like, why you’re doing this to yourself? And I’ve had to be like, Huh, I really don’t want to answer that question. I want to answer I don’t know. But the truth is, I do know, and you’re calling me out on it right now. And I need to look at that. Right?
So that is something that you have to get over and stop feeling nervous about yourself, and what people are going to think about you because that’s really selfish. If you think about it, it’s much, it’s a much better place to serve from when you are not in your own head, not worried about looking stupid, not judging yourself harshly about how you’re going to come off to other people and instead focused on who you’re trying to talk to who you’re trying to serve. What you can contribute in this moment.
What if I Lose Money?
And you’re not just being all worked up about what if I get rejected? What if they don’t like me? Right? The third thing that you have to think about, if you are feeling stuck in your business, or you’re broke and your business is what this belief holds you back, it’s what if I lose money? Okay, what if I lose money? Okay, let’s investigate this. First off, anytime you want to start a business, you’re already costing yourself. When you’re not where you want to be. Meaning what is it costing you to continue to not spend money in your business, try to do everything yourself, try to piece everything together, spending hours and hours and hours and hours on something that you could have
gotten done by maybe having a template from someone that you bought it from or having a done for you service or whatever. What is that costing you? And that that does cost you but most people don’t look at opportunity cost in business. Most people just look at on paper, what have they spent money on. But the truth is, if you want to grow in your business, you might lose some money on some things. I’ve lost money on things, I’ve set things up that I didn’t end up using. I’ve hired you know, with courses and coaches and people who I ended up being like,

Move Forward in Learning
right. But I learned from every single one of them and they all moved me forward, they might not have moved me forward in the way I thought I was going to move forward. But they all moved me forward with either a really important lesson, a really important connection, a really important outcome that we achieve together. Or something that came later, it just didn’t come in the time frame that I thought it was going to come in all of them benefited me. Even the bad investments, the things that I was like, man, I really spent money on that.
I learned what I didn’t want to do what I didn’t want to continue to do what didn’t work for me, etc, which is a lot farther than if I would have never made that choice or tried that thing. I wouldn’t have known that. Right? And so it allows you to move forward much smarter and make less mistakes moving forward. Then there’s also good but good, what if it does work? And, what if you gain a lot of money?
Scaling Your Business
What if you scale your business because you made this investment, and more times than not that side happens then the bad investments? I would say the bad investments have been only like maybe 5% of what I’ve spent in my business. And the rest of them like why didn’t I do this sooner? Oh my gosh, I can’t believe I was making it so hard for myself. And so my suggestion to you and the reason why I started powerplay with my business partner Paul’s because I was coaching my clients already on marketing strategy and sales. And I kept seeing them, you know, want to do something faster, or it but they’re one person and nobody can change the world by yourself.
Nobody can, you know, just do do all the follow up and all the setup and all the automation and all the things by themselves if they really want to grow and we wanted to help coaches and consultants Of course creators not Take the strategy that I teach them and implement it on their own, but actually set it up for them and do the follow up more consistent consistently. And be, you know, getting them leads at a bigger amplified, right, and help them get their visibility and their reach expanded, so that they could focus on what they’re actually really good at, which is coaching, which is, you know, the discovery calls, that kind of thing.
Don’t Miss Out on the Opportunities
But a lot of times coaches never get the chance to do what they’re good at meaning coach and be on Discovery calls and like working with the clients, because they’re focused on all the other things because they’re afraid of spending money in their business and losing it. And so then they’re just missing out on all the opportunities because they’re so scape scrambled. And so my suggestion to the to you, is, if you have the question, What if I lose money?
Ask yourself also what if this works? Or what if maybe I do lose money? But what could I learn at the end? Or who would I become at the end of that, that’s going to make me better and stronger, and move faster and move me forward? And the only way you know things is if you try them, so you’re much better off taking action and doing things and falling, then sitting still and wondering and pondering. Right? So yes, there’s calculated risks, yes, they’re smart actions you can take and I would much prefer you do that, then just be like, doing everything and just acting for to act like checking things off your to do lists, just to check them off, I would not want you to do that.
Don’t Be Stagnant
But I do want you to move and make a decision and do something and learn from it. Compared to just sitting in this stagnant, I don’t know, I’m gonna wait state because that is really harmful. And it’s like one of those sneaky harmful things, because we don’t realize in the moment, it’s sneaky, because we’re just kind of like, in it, you know, and we’re just not really doing anything. So we think that we’re like, safe, nothing’s really happening. But when you’re sitting in that sneaky place of like, I’m not doing anything, I’m just gonna wait, I’m making any decisions. It’s actually much more harmful than making a bad decision or making a good decision moving moving, then, you know, compared to staying still, I hope that makes sense. And I’d like you to share one little belief that’s either sneaky and you know, you have it and you know, what’s holding you back. Or one thought that you know, is keeping you broke. And I would love to do more videos like this, where we leave like Trump them, we just say, Okay, here’s why. Here’s another way to look at this, and help you start moving through those beliefs. Because my guess is there’s a lot of things that you think are impossible, that you think aren’t aren’t going to happen for you that you think you’re special unicorn and these things that you know, these marketing principles or these sales principles don’t apply to you.
Thinking Positive Thoughts and Having Positive Beliefs
And my, my suggestion is, if you want to move forward, you have to start to look at those things and realize, what am I thinking that’s impossible that I might be wrong about. I hope I’m wrong about because when you start to investigate that and notice that and be able to see things in a different way, your results are going to change. You’re going to become a different type of business owner, somebody who is proactive, somebody who is able to open their mind, someone who’s willing to try things and feel disappointment and feel rejection and feel judged and feel like I tried something that didn’t work, because and remember also at the end of that to not beat yourself up about trying something that didn’t work, but instead of learn from it, which is a win win situation.
So you either with every choice you make you either learn something, or it works and you’re milking the results today and amplifying it, right. The only downside is if you do something and you don’t learn from it, or you beat yourself up for doing something, and then continue to make yourself not want to try things because you beat yourself up all the time. So that’s my thoughts of the day. I hope this was helpful.
