Convenient Healthy Lifestyle Tips…
Convenient or not, a healthy lifestyle is important. Unfortunately, healthy choices can be more expensive, time consuming, and inconvenient. If you’re just getting started on your journey, here are 5 ways you can make wellness more convenient for your busy lifestyle…
1. Every hour, take a break from what you’re doing and perform 10 reps of a bodyweight exercise.
Instead of taking breaks throughout your day to check Facebook or do other sedentary activities, do just 10 push ups, squats, tricep dips, or any other bodyweight exercise. You could also hold a wall sit or plank for 1-2 minutes. This will help you keep the energy and creativity flowing throughout your day. By the end of an 8-hour workday, you will have done 80 reps of a certain exercise! If you want to be an overachiever, try doing 3-5 sets of 10 reps at each break.
2. Choose the right bar.
Let’s face it. Sometimes it is hard to pack a meal or eat healthy on-the-go. While I prefer eating balanced meals instead of snack bars, it doesn’t always happen. That’s why I went on a quest to find the best bar on the market… Bulletproof Collagen Bars. Most bars you’ll find in health food stores are LOADED with sugar, usually containing 11-24 grams of it (That’s almost 5 teaspoons!). Even though many bar companies use “natural” sources of sugar like honey or dates, your body still responds with a blood sugar crash.
A high sugar bar will make you feel hungrier than before you ate it and crave more food. Some bars even use artificial sweeteners. For example, the majority of Quest Bar flavors use an artificial sweetener called sucralose (Splenda). Bulletproof Collagen Bars only have 2 grams of sugar per bar that comes from a clean source: organic raw cashew butter and a pinch of the herbal sweetener stevia (It’s the last ingredient on the list.). Most bars use gluten-derived or soy-derived ingredients that can be bloating. Bulleptroof bars use filling, fiber-rich ingredients like chicory root and a prebiotic called inulin, which promotes beneficial gut bacteria and hormonal health.
Lastly, most protein bars usually contain low-quality whey or GMO whey. Bulletproof bars use collagen protein instead. Collagen is fantastic for your skin, joints, and muscles. As you can see, it’s not just about how many calories are in your favorite meal replacement bar or snack bar, you have to think about what it’s going to do to your hunger levels, cravings, hormones, energy, and overall health! Enjoy Bulletproof bars as an easy treat without the negative side effects you’d get from a lot of the other bars out there.
3. Drink water through a straw.
Do you have trouble staying hydrated throughout the day? Try using a straw in your water glass. It’s easier to drink more water in less time when using a straw. On the contrary, whenever you’re drinking a beverage that might not be so good for you, don’t use a straw and sip slowly.
4. Use inconvenience to your advantage.
Make it hard not to make healthy choices. If you are watching too much TV, tell a family member to hide the remote from you and unplug the TV. If you skip exercise every day, make a date with a friend to go to a fitness class. Even if you don’t feel like going, you’re probably not going to let your friend down. If you can’t resist eating junk food at home, stop buying it! When you only have healthy food available at your house, you’ll probably eat it instead of driving to get whatever junk food you’re craving.
5. Cook healthy food in bulk.
You don’t have to spend hours meal prepping. You can cook in bulk when you have a chance. For instance, if you happen to be baking salmon and veggies for dinner, throw in some sweet potatoes, grass-fed meat patties, or other food you could re-heat later in the week. If you are scrambling eggs for breakfast, hard-boil some extra ones for the next day. Preparing your meals now will save you time later.
