Niche Mistakes to AVOID as a health or life coach
When it comes to choosing a niche, there’s a couple common niche mistakes I see in the coaching industry.
These mistakes will keep you from landing clients consistently – so I want to make sure you know what to avoid… As a Business Coach for health coaches & life coaches, my goal is to help you make niching down easier & more profitable… not the other way around.
Mistake #1: Using vague language
Saying things like “I empower women to be healthy.” Or “I help you tap into your inner voice.”
These statements can mean soooo many different things to different people & don’t speak to an urgent problem or goal your audience has.
People probably don’t come to you saying, “I want to spend money on finding my inner voice.”
Instead, they probably mention an outcome they want ASAP, such as…
- Getting a promotion at work
- Having the confidence to start that side hustle they’ve been thinking about
- Stopping overeating for good
- Getting pregnant (if they’ve been having infertility challenges)
Sure- “finding their inner voice” could give them more confidence, but in your marketing… you gotta meet your target audience where they are at and speak their language to really capture their attention.
When you enroll in my Profitable Niche course, you get the step by step guidance towards creating an elevator pitch and content that creates DEMAND, instead of using statements that “sound nice,” but don’t really drive home.
Mistake #2: Making your niche statement or elevator pitch too wordy
I know you want to jam-pack your elevator pitch with ALL the wonderful things you do with your clients, but we really want your statement to be clear and to the point.
If you’re using extra “fluff” words like “find your power,” “live your passion,” etc… Think about how you can tighten things up and get to the core of the dream outcome or problem you help address.
Mistake #3: Talking about coaching tools, rather than results
This one is probably the biggest mistake I see.
If you’re talking about what you do with your clients INSTEAD of FOCUSING on who they become and what they achieve results-wise by working with you, we need to talk.
Saying you help your clients do things like “meditate,” “form healthy habits,” “exercise,” “eat healthier,” etc. are all the tools, not the results.
In my course, I help you uncover what RESULTS come from learning the tools you teach & how to confidently market those results in your content.
Think about specific results related to their wealth, health, relationships, or time.
Mistake 4: Niche Hopping
If you pick a niche, try it for a couple weeks, and then decide to change it… I call this “niche hopping.”
When you’re hopping from niche to niche, you never get the chance to become an expert in your field and win within the niche you’ve chosen.
I know it can be tempting to jump around, but focus is your friend.
In my course, I help you stay on task with the niche you choose so it finally starts bringing clients to you.
